Dr. Laura McLain grew up in the Midwest and attended University of Wisconsin—Madison, where she received a BS in Zoology in 1993 and a Doctor of Veterinary Medicine in 1997. She practiced in Milwaukee for two years before moving to Salt Lake City to join the Central Valley group of veterinary hospitals. She is particularly interested in the medical, surgical, and dental issues of working K9’s, and is pursuing certification as a Working Dog Practitioner through the Penn Vet Working Dog Center. She was the team veterinarian for FEMA Urban Search and Rescue—Utah Task Force 1 for eight years, and provides care for search and rescue, police, and avalanche K9’s. Dr. McLain’s personal pets are two Labrador Retrievers, Ty and Samwise, and three guinea pigs.
